A few assorted pictures from the day...

We enjoyed a nice day of walking today, the weather was beautiful and we enjoyed seeing lots of wildlife. We put in quite a few miles and even took time to eat a pizza!;) I even had time to mess around with some photography on my phone.  The trail disappeared and we had to make our own path, but everything worked out for the best! I hope you enjoy these pictures! May God Bless you and keep you ~ Love Katlyn

Iowa!

Hello Again! I can't believe we have walked to Iowa!:) I still have a hard time fathoming that I have walked from Delaware to Iowa! I was actually sad to leave Illinois, we had such friendly people there and great weather!  I can't believe the adventures so far and we aren't even half way there yet:) Please continue to pray for our safety and strength.

Night at the Abbey!

Yesterday evening we met a man on a bicycle... As we were talking he asked us where we would be spending the night. He told us that Saint Bede's Abbey was a mile or so up the road. We continued to walk and came upon the lane to the Abbey and Academy. We walked in the doors and Mom and I went to find someone. We walked into the kitchen and talked to a nice lady told us to have a seat. After a few minutes the Father of the Monestary welcomed us to dine with them. They fed us Ham, green beans, sweet potatoes and Chocolate cake!;) they were some of the kindest most generous people I believe I have ever met! I believe there was around 9 or so Monks living there. They fed us breakfast and gave us fresh veggies for the road;) You couldn't help but see The Lord in them!

Some of my Chicago pictures

Here are a few of my Chicago pictures... Thank you very much George and Ruth McCarty for being our wonderful tour guides of this amazing city! Chicago is definitely a neat city worth seeing. I couldn't imagine having to drive there!!:/ Hope you enjoy these photos! ~ Katlyn

Mosquitoes, Mosquitoes and Bigger Mosquitoes!!

Did you know that there are around 2700 species of Mosquitos? They carry all different types of diseases and kill millions of people every year! Mosquitos are the most deadly animal in the world... The tiny little ones are just as dangerous as the BIG ones! Just today we walked 24 miles with Mosquitos everywhere. We woke up to swarms of them, walked in swarms of them and we even slept to the sound of Mosquitos! So all this said, don't take these little creatures for granted. Wear bug spray and be cautious! Happy Hiking~ KatyDid
