Katlyn's New Mission

Hello again from West Virginia! This blog post is on my first time ever making a solar light! I did it with my new friend Leah Seaman with New Vision Missions in Philippi, WV. It was alot easier then I thought it would be to assemble it, but I also had two wonderful teachers!:) New Visions mission is to make sure everyone in the world has a light... with a single light you can help people have a brighter future whether it is by helping them have light to read for a better education or being able to see their surroundings at night time or to keep animals away at night. A light makes everything alot easier! I am hoping that through my knowledge of their mission I can help expand peoples knowledge of their mission to better the world around us and make other less fortunate peoples future a brighter place! I am setting a goal for myself to tell people I know to help me in my endeavors to "Light an Orphanage". I have always wanted to be able to help people and Orphans especially. Please help me to make my goal! For just $150  you can sponsor a solar light for an Orphan and make their life brighter or for $1600 you can help me light a whole orphanage if not more than that... depending on the size and number of children. I want to be a light unto the world, please help me make childrens future brighter by lighting the world! View pictures below of solar lights you can send to needy children!:)

Thoughts of a Trail Bug: Dolly Sods, WV

Thoughts of a Trail Bug: Dolly Sods, WV: Hello Again! I'm sorry that it has been so long since I've posted anything! We just summited the Dolly Sods and I can't believe...

Dolly Sods, WV

Hello Again!
I'm sorry that it has been so long since I've posted anything! We just summited the Dolly Sods and I can't believe we made it. It was the most challenging thing I have ever accomplished in my life! We ended up hiking a total of 22 miles that day because there was no camping allowed on the summit. Our GPS map told us there was camping in 6 miles after the summit.... when we arrived there was a big sign "NO OVERNIGHT CAMPING!" so, we had a decision to make. Either hike on 10 more miles to Canaan Valley State Park Lodge or figure out another place to stay. We decided to hike the 10 miles to Canaan! We hiked until around 9:00 pm then we decided to ask someone for a ride due to it being dark and being totally exhausted! This very nice man gave us a ride the last 2 miles which we plan to hike tomorrow along with the 9 mile trail from Canaan Lodge to Black Water Falls Lodge where we are staying tonight. We had some new friends Dick & JoAnn Helmick take us from Canaan to Black Water falls this afternoon because our carts cannot go over the 9 mile trail. We will hike that tomorrow then get a ride back here to Black Water Falls, Lord willing:) Please continue to keep us in your prayers! We need it along our way! May God Bless you!

C & O Canal Towpath and Harpers Ferry, WV

Hello Again!
We are really enjoying the C and O canal towpath so far. It is a lot better then the road walking we were doing! We are in Harpers ferry West Virginia right now spending 2 days for Daddy's birthday:) We picked up a mail drop from Mrs. Anna Marie Rush that had cookies!! Thank you so much:) My best friend Katelyn also sent me some letters....Thank you! It makes me feel better seeing bits of news from home. We went to the Appalachian trail Conservancy to pick up the mail drops and look around. We have met some really nice people here in Harpers Ferry and we are looking forward to being back on the trail again soon! Hope all is well....

Happy Hiking!

God's Blessings Flow like Rain!

It is unbelievable the blessings that God has given us so far in our journey!

It really makes me realize that I just need to 100% trust Him no matter
what the circumstances are.

I have realized that there still are alot of very God fearing friendly people in this world!

I have learned to rely more on God then on what I think needs to happen.

I just hope that the further I walk the stronger I become in a Godly way.

Seeing all of the Memorials and things in Washington D.C really makes me realize how far this world has come from the Godly values it was first laid on.

Just about every monument has some reference to God and His blessings and guidance!

I hope that you have a blessed week and are strengthened where you are weak! Take a walk in God's creation.... It will bring you closer to him!

Please continue to pray for us as we Lord willing start hiking on the C & O canal towpath tomorrow.. It will bring us away from busy dangerous roads and more into God's creation.

Lord Bless~

Washington D.C Tour

We have really been enjoying our stay at Washington D.C! It is a beautiful city with lots of amazing things to see! We toured the Smithsonian Museums Natural History, U.S. History, U.S. Botanical Gardens, Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, M.L King Memorial, World War 2 Memorial, Capital  Building, and alot of other things:) We want to thank our dear friends Lee and Chrissy Weaber for being our tour guides and putting us up at the National Harbor Resort! We can never thank them enough! God has just blessed us beyond words on this trip so far! The National Cherry Blossom Festival is going on also.... Very beautiful!!:) On Thursday we start hiking on the C and O Canal which is 160 miles trails. We are very thankful for that! Getting us off these busy main roads. We are very thankful that God spared us through several really close calls with vechicles so far! Hopefully I can upload pictures soon. If not please see our Facebook page. Continue to keep us in your prayers! Lord bless and Happy Hiking:)
